Employee is required to have the ability to: • perform general maintenance and repair to light and medium-duty gas and diesel vehicles, including engine, transmission, front-end and body components, • perform basic troubleshooting techniques, • correct electrical problems and to install various electrical accessories, • order parts, • Weld and fabricate, • On-Call work experience, • coordinate and inspect repairs and maintenance completed by vendors and subordinate employees, • establish and maintain various types of service and other records, • use hand and power tools to perform a variety of mechanical work, • replace and tighten screws and bolts to required torque, • remove and service rotors, check components against specific tolerances, replace pads and other components, rebuild brake components, bleed, and test brake systems, • replace oil, transmission fluid, and filters, along with coolant, and other fluids and refill to manufacturer's specifications, and verify fluid levels, • test batteries and electrical components, • properly remove and replace batteries, • check and service A/C systems, add refrigerant, and repair or rebuild A/C system, • provide effective written, and verbal communications, • document work performed. Job Summary: The essential function of the position within the organization is to perform skilled repair work on any of the following: diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles, trucks, heavy and light equipment, boats, spray equipment utilized by Lake County, as well as other mechanical systems, ensuring that repaired equipment runs properly and safely.
