The initial critical specialty groups are the Emergency Department (ED), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), hematology/Oncology (HEM/ONC), Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), Perioperative Services, Medical/Surgical, etc. The RN Internal Traveler plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice as well as provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population.
