Location: On-site at a partner school (varies by assignment; indoor and/or outdoor space) Schedule: 1–4 hours per week, after school Program Length: ~10 weeks Start Date: Rolling openings based on school schedules Compensation: $50+ per instructional hour (flexible based on experience, program, and commute)About the RoleConcorde Education is seeking a Gardening Instructor to lead engaging after-school programs for students (grade band varies by assignment). This role introduces learners to foundational gardening concepts through hands-on, age-appropriate activities.Instructors will guide students in understanding how plants grow, what they need to thrive, and how gardening connects to environmental awareness, nutrition, and community. Programs are interactive and adapted to the site’s space, season, and student level.What You’ll TeachStudents will learn the basics of gardening through active participation and real-world application. Topics may include:<ul><li>Plant needs and life cycles (sunlight, water, nutrients, growth stages)</li><li>Soil basics (composition, drainage, composting concepts)</li><li>Seeds and germination (planting, transplanting, care)</li><li>Plant identification and basic botany (roots, stems, leaves, flowers)</li><li>Watering practices and conservation</li><li>Seasonal gardening and local climate awareness</li><li>Pollinators and ecosystems (bees, butterflies, biodiversity)</li><li>Garden design basics (spacing, container gardening, simple layouts)</li><li>Food systems connections (herbs, vegetables, where food comes from)</li><li>Observation and reflection (garden journaling, tracking growth) Responsibilities</li><li>Lead structured, hands-on gardening sessions aligned to program goals</li><li>Plan safe activities based on site space, season, and available materials</li><li>Maintain consistent routines for tool use, cleanup, and safety</li><li>Create a positive, inclusive environment that encourages participation</li><li>Support student responsibility for plant care (as applicable)</li><li>Communicate with program staff regarding attendance and session updates</li><li>Adapt instruction to different skill levels while maintaining outcomes Qualifications</li><li>Minimum of 60 college credits (completed or in progress)</li><li>Experience with gardening or plant-based activities</li><li>Experience working with students (schools, camps, tutoring, or youth programs)</li><li>Strong communication and classroom management skills</li><li>Comfortable managing hands-on activities and materials safely</li><li>Reliable, punctual, and professional Who This Role Is Great For</li><li>Garden educators, horticulture students, or environmental educators</li><li>Teachers or paraprofessionals interested in outdoor learning</li><li>College students studying environmental science, biology, or related fields</li><li>Hobby gardeners who enjoy working with youth  </li><li>About Concorde Education</li></ul>Concorde Education partners with schools nationwide to provide engaging after-school programs in STEM, arts, and enrichment topics. DescriptionThe Best Teams are Created and Maintained Here.<div>Job Summary<ul><li>The Landscape Tender PW performs a variety of landscape and irrigation duties using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.</li></ul>Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Lay sod and prepare planting areas.</li><li>Plant trees, shrubs, and flowers.</li><li>Water and fertilize landscaped areas.</li><li>Dig, rake, and perform general site preparation.</li><li>Install and maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.</li><li>Install mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units.</li><li>Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.</li></ul>      Education and Experience:<ul><li>Minimum 6 months commercial landscape experience</li><li>Ability to operate hand equipment with mechanized moving blades (e.g., gas-powered shears)</li><li>Experience using manual hand tools such as shovels.</li></ul>Physical Demands/Requirements:<ul><li>Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)</li><li>Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)</li><li>Be at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)</li><li>Possess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.</li><li>Able to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).</li><li>Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.</li><li>Able to perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)</li><li>You are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection)</li><li>Landscapers who will be operating a BrightView fleet vehicle are required to have a valid driver’s license and meet company standards as it relates motor vehicle performance identified on a state issued motor vehicle record check.</li><li>Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.</li><li>Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.</li></ul>Work Environment:<ul><li>Ability to work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (e.g., temperatures more than 100°F, temperatures below 32°F, various levels of humidity)</li><li>Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.</li><li>Work outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.</li><li>Ability to work in environments where extended periods of loud noise are present.</li><li>Ability to work in environments where exposure to allergens such as pollen and rag weed, insects such as bees and spiders and reptiles such as lizards and snakes. </li></ul><h3>BrightView Landscapes, LLC is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.</h3></div><h3>This job description is subject to change at any time.</h3>Compensation Pay Range:20-21BrightView offers a suite or health, wellness, and financial benefits to full-time team members.
