Position Summary: Engages students in the teaching/learning process; works assigned schedule, represents the College in the community, and performs other related duties as required. Classes will be in-person during the day and possible online classes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li>Plan and teach courses that fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives. Remains current with subject matter and instructional methodology. </li></ul><ul><li>Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives. </li></ul><ul><li>Communicates progress in the course to students in a timely manner. </li></ul><ul><li>Determine sand submits students' grades in accordance with established College policies and procedures. </li></ul><ul><li>Supports the mission of the program, division, and college. </li></ul>Supervisory Responsibilities: <ul><li>None </li></ul>Education and/or Experience: <ul><li>Master's degree in history or related fields with 19 graduate hours in history courses. </li></ul><ul><li>A minimum of two years' teaching experience preferred, preferably at the college level. </li></ul>Other Skills, and Abilities: <ul><li>Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom situations. </li></ul><ul><li>Proficient in word-processing and presentation software, internet, and e-mail. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of students. </li></ul><ul><li>Capability to teach in more than one discipline. </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to advise students. </li></ul><ul><li>Effective verbal, written, and listening communication skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Effective problem-solving skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to work a combination of days/evening/weekend schedules. </li></ul>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations <ul><li>None </li></ul>Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: <ul><li>Typical office/classroom environment. </li><li>Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities. </li></ul>Statement of Commitment As part of Terra State Community College’s ongoing commitment in providing the highest quality education and training to our students, faculty, staff and community, the College will: <ul><li>Educate students by means of free, open, and rigorous intellectual inquiry to seek the truth. </li></ul><ul><li>Equip students with an opportunity to develop the intellectual skills they need to reach their own informed conclusions. </li></ul><ul><li>Not require, favor, disfavor, or prohibit speech or lawful assembly. </li></ul><ul><li>Create a community dedicated to an ethic of civil and free inquiry, which respects the autonomy of each member, supports individual capacities for growth, and tolerates the differences in opinion that naturally occur in a public higher education community. </li></ul><ul><li>Treat all faculty, staff, and students as individuals, will hold them to equal standards, and provide them equality of opportunity, with regard to those individuals’ race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. </li></ul>Powered by JazzHR
