DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Masters degree in Horticulture or a related field • Demonstrated experience with current pedagogical techniques, active learning, and student-centered learning for students of different abilities and at different levels of preparedness • Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and respect for a diverse community college environment composed of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds • Demonstrated experience in assessing the effectiveness of teaching methods and curriculum/program changes on student engagement and success • Evidence of ability to use technologies, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software, email, learning management systems, and evidence of ability to incorporate and assess the efficacy of new technologies in workflow, instruction, assessment, and daily practice • Demonstrated successful experience teaching sustainable horticulture courses that include plant identification, soil science, pruning, pest management, and plant production with a focus on landscape management, design, construction, and restoration • Two years of full-time business work experience in one or more of the instructional areas listed in the position description • Demonstrated experience managing and working effectively with multiple teams of students, colleagues, college leadership, and customers in a community college environment. Faculty members are responsible for the following: • teaching assigned classes to a diverse student body in a variety of formats including online and hybrid • developing curriculum • preparing teaching materials • developing and assessing student learning outcomes to evaluate student work • assigning grades • maintaining required records • advising and consulting with students to support their success.
