Provide comprehensive overnight medical care, including admissions, cross-coverage, management of acute clinical issues, participation in medical emergencies and code responses, support of patient throughput and disposition, and overnight coverage of designated skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), as applicable. Evaluate and manage Extended Monitoring Unit (EMU) patients, including clinical reassessment, diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, coordination with consultants and the daytime Hospital Medicine team, and determination of the most appropriate disposition, including observation, inpatient admission, or discharge.
