We are seeking a gracious, thoughtful, and motivated part-time Host who can create a sense of luxury while engaging with guests. We look forward to connecting with you! Position Summary:The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating an excellent first impression for guests dining at Marisol. They maintain timely flow of reservations and walk-ins, have strong communication skills over the phone and in-person, and project positivity and happiness. They will successfully model The Cliffs' Mission and Values as they engage with the guests in their day-to-day interactions. Essential Functions of the job:<ul><li>Greet all guests with a welcoming, friendly attitude, within the first 30 seconds of entry</li><li>Use the guest's name in accordance with their preference, while smiling and maintaining eye contact</li><li>Escort guests to their table, offering chair assistance to at least one person in the party, defaulting to the guest who made the reservation</li><li>Engage with guests in an articulate manner, using correct verbiage and avoiding slang</li><li>Demonstrate genuine sense of interest and concern, and/or anticipatory service when appropriate and helpful; guided by The Cliffs' Mission and Values</li><li>Share local expertise when making recommendations to guests through providing first-hand knowledge and testimony, providing directions and transportation options when appropriate</li><li>Demonstrate knowledge on all menu items, and be able to answer questions about dietary restrictions, preferences, or allergies</li><li>Politely and genuinely thank guests for choosing our restaurant upon their departure</li><li>Maintain and organize the reservations and make sure there are tables to accommodate them</li><li>Accurately assess walk-in and reservation needs, providing an estimated wait time as needed and seating the guest no more than five minutes past the quoted time</li><li>Understand Open Table and the protocols for making a reservation correctly</li><li>Assign tables to server sections and keep the flow of service running smoothly</li><li>Answer phones promptly for reservations, room service orders, and general restaurant requests; before taking a phone order, ask about dietary restrictions, preferences, or allergies</li><li>Keep hallways and hallway service areas clean from IRD activity</li><li>Assist servers upon their request</li><li>Comply promptly with the special requests of management</li><li>Assist as needed to maintain standards of appearance, sanitation and service in all areas of the restaurant</li><li>Communicate graciously and courteously with guests, management and co-workers</li><li>Comply fully and consistently with all the hotel and restaurant conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming, personal hygiene, and safety</li><li>Attend meetings and trainings to learn current restaurant and hotel information </li></ul> Qualifications:<ul><li>Restaurant experience</li><li>Energetic/Friendly/Positive/Reliable</li><li>Customer service experience</li></ul> Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (4-8 hours).</li><li>Ability to lift small packages (under 40 pounds).</li><li>Ability to work in stressful situations.</li></ul> Education, Experience, Skills:<ul><li>High school diploma</li><li>Working knowledge of guest services in a luxury hotel setting.</li><li>Excellent command of English language.</li><li>Ability to work with people effectively.</li><li>Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations</li><li>Responsible Beverage (RBS) Trained and ABC Certified within 30 days of start date</li></ul> This job description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Demand for public areas to handle the rooms encouraged us in April 1960 to start construction of the main inn, which was to eventually consists of the wine cellar, bakery, coffee shop, dining room, the cocktail lounge, banquet rooms, ladies’ boutique, men’s gift shop, and the gourmet shop. The first 12 rooms were completed December 24, 1958, and were given complementary for that night’s stay, to a very surprised group of travelers.

The Madonna Inn is seeking to fill a hosting position in its Copper Café. Must be available to work weekends and holidays. Positive attitude and customer service skills are necessary. The position offers paid vacation, paid breaks, free meals, employee discounts, plus full insurance benefits... medical, dental, and vision.Many people have asked for a history of Madonna Inn, so with this brief story, we will attempt to tell you how it all began. An additional 28 rooms were quickly built, making a total of 40 rooms available to travelers.
