Installs and repairs refrigerating systems: lays out reference points for installation; drills holes and installs brackets and hangers into floor or wall; lifts and aligns components into position using hoist and anchors in place; welds, and braces parts to assemble structural and functional components, such as motors, controls, switches, gages, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes; pumps specified gas or fluid into system; starts system; observes system, reads gages and instruments, and adjusts mechanism. Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours.
