Department/Program & College Description: The Biomedical Sciences department supports the mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine by teaching a basic science curriculum to veterinary medical students, conducting state-of-the-art basic and translational research relevant to the health of animals and humans, and educating graduate students through both the departmental graduate program and several multidisciplinary interdepartmental programs at Iowa State University. Research programs in pharmacology-relevant disciplines are of particular interest, including neurobiology, cellular signaling, drug mechanism and mode of action, endocrinology, toxicology, and receptor or antimicrobial pharmacology.
