To be eligible for appointment under NY HELPS, candidates must meet the minimum qualifications below: Promotion: You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as follows: Conservation Operations Supervisor 1, General Mechanic, Trades Generalist, Service & Repair Assistant (Motor Equipment), Motor Equipment Maintenance Supervisor 1, Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Motor Equipment), Motor Equipment Mechanic, Service & Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Sign Painter, Trades Specialist (Sign Fabrication), Sign Shop Supervisor 1, Trades Supervisor (Sign Fabrication), Supervisor Marine Equipment Repair, or Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Marine Equipment). Or 2. two years of experience in building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or construction; one year of which must have been in estimating, supervising, and planning and assigning work, AND an associates or higher level degree in civil engineering technology, construction technology, construction engineering technology, electrical technology, electrical engineering technology, engineering technology, industrial technology, industrial engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, or mechanical technology.
