Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Thorough knowledge of the processes involved in the treatment of water and wastewater; thorough knowledge of the functions and mechanics of water filtration and wastewater treatment plant machinery and equipment, and of its servicing and maintenance requirements; demonstrated ability to supervise skilled and semiskilled subordinates in water and wastewater treatment processes, and in the operation, maintenance and repair of water treatment and production and wastewater treatment; demonstrated ability to supervise skilled and semiskilled subordinates involve in the operation and maintenance of other assets including but not limited to pumping stations, reservoirs, control valves; general knowledge of chemistry; thorough knowledge of the processes involved in the water/wastewater treatment and collection; thorough knowledge of requirements such as OSHA 1910, HAZMAT, NPDES permits, EPA water quality; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates and other employees; ability to deal effectively with the public. Acceptable Experience and Training: Completion of Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental related field or equal (civil engineering, chemistry and biology) or extensive experience in the operation and maintenance of water production and purification, and wastewater treatment equipment, and the distribution and collection systems of water and wastewater, including considerable supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
