The essential duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Coordinator are the following: Teach up to three (3) laboratory courses per semester based on departmental instructional needs; provide instructional coverage for laboratory courses during temporary faculty absences, including approved leave, Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), professional conferences, or other approved university business, as needed; and collaborate with faculty course coordinators to develop, coordinate, and maintain laboratory schedules for assigned courses to ensure effective laboratory operations and instructional support. Order, prepare, and maintain laboratory supplies, materials, and equipment to support weekly laboratory instruction; develop and maintain current laboratory procedures manuals for laboratory instructors and technicians; recruit, train, and supervise student assistants and laboratory technicians in accordance with departmental policies and approved safety guidelines; and collaborate with other Laboratory Coordinators in the department to promote consistency in laboratory operations, procedures, and instructional support across all Perimeter College campuses.
