This role partners closely with faculty to support curriculum, integrates research and information literacy skills across grade levels, and maintains a vibrant, developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources.Ideal candidates are collaborative, flexible, and committed to fostering a culturally responsive learning environment aligned with Antilles School’s mission and values.Core Responsibilities:<h5>Library Program & Instruction</h5><ul><li>Develop and lead a dynamic Lower School library program that promotes literacy, inquiry, and a love of reading</li><li>Design and deliver developmentally appropriate library instruction, including foundational research and information literacy skills</li><li>Foster a welcoming and engaging library environment that supports diverse learning styles and encourages student exploration</li><li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to support literacy curriculum, including designing and delivering lessons that reinforce and align with grade-level literacy skills and standards </li></ul><h5>Collection Development & Resource Management</h5><ul><li>Curate and maintain a current, diverse, and developmentally appropriate collection of print and digital resources</li><li>Ensure the library collection supports classroom curriculum and student interests</li><li>Evaluate, select, and manage library materials and resources in alignment with best practices in library science</li></ul><h5>Collaboration & Curriculum Integration</h5><ul><li>Partner with classroom teachers to support curriculum through resource selection, research instruction, and collaborative planning</li><li>Support faculty in integrating library resources and research skills into classroom instruction</li><li>Maintain a strong understanding of curriculum and student developmental stages to effectively support instructional needs</li></ul><h5>Community & Professionalism</h5><ul><li>Promote a school-wide culture of reading through events, programming, and initiatives</li><li>Build positive relationships with students, faculty, and families to support literacy and learning</li><li>Support students in becoming responsible and ethical users of information</li><li>Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment</li><li>Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events</li><li>Fulfill assigned duties and contribute to the broader life of the school</li></ul><h5>Qualifications & Skills:</h5><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Library Science or related field preferred</li><li>Previous experience in a school or library setting required</li><li>Strong understanding of child development and best practices in literacy and library science</li><li>Demonstrated ability to foster a love of reading and inquiry in young learners</li><li>Collaborative, student-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills</li><li>Ability to partner effectively with faculty and communicate with families</li><li>Cultural competence and commitment to inclusive practices</li><li>Strong organizational and technology skills</li></ul> Antilles School is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
