While a portion of the work is performed from within the cabs of computerized vehicles and heavy engineering equipment (requiring prolonged sitting and fine manipulation of hand, foot, and eye controls), the operator frequently climbs onto elevated machine platforms, bends, stoops, kneels, crawls, balances, and reaches to inspect track, troubleshoot mechanical/hydraulic assemblies, and perform manual repair work. High-Risk Operations: Subject to significant risks of injury from high-pressure hydraulic lines, heavy flying debris, pinch points, operating powerful hydraulic hand tools, handling heavy rail components, and falling from elevated equipment or trestles.
