SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Changing light bulbs; Adjustment and repair to doors, locks and windows; Repairing and replacement of shelves and cabinets; Assembling and repairing office desks, chairs, computer stations and typewriter stands; repairing ceramic tile, carpet, drywall and door frame; Completing repair and maintenance of plumbing and minor electrical and HVAC equipment such as changing filters, belts and greasing; Completing custodial duties involving the cleaning of classrooms, carpets, floors and lavatories; Setting up chairs, tables, public announcing systems and audio-visual equipment for all classes and special events; Keeping all classrooms clean and ready for use by students; Informing the provost of any situation that might require immediate attention regarding safety; Offering suggestions for improvement of campus maintenance; Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include: Demonstrated experience and/or training in the trade skills of carpentry, concrete, plumbing, electrical, and painting; Knowledge of the proper and safe use of power tools and equipment used in various trades; Knowledge and experience in custodial duties such as floor and carpet care including machinery used; Knowledge and understanding of biomedical waste and supplies and the proper storage and disposal; Knowledge of safety hazards of buildings and grounds which include maintaining hazardous chemical lists; Knowledge and experience in inspections, warranties and service contracts; Planning and managing projects; Be computer literate; Ability to understand verbal and written instructions; Ability to work well with co-workers and other irsc faculty and staff members; Ability to work with minimal supervision; Valid Florida driver's license.
