Final candidates will complete a hands-on technical skills assessment, which may evaluate your ability to safely use a digital multimeter; diagnose an electrical control-circuit failure; read an electrical schematic; identify electrical components and explain their function; troubleshoot motors and motor-control circuits; diagnose sensor and actuator faults; explain VFD operation and common faults; troubleshoot basic PLC input/output conditions; explain Lockout/Tagout procedures; diagnose mechanical failures involving bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, couplings, and drive systems; troubleshoot pneumatic circuits; describe a structured troubleshooting methodology; and explain how you would identify and eliminate a recurring equipment failure. Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safe-work practices, machine guarding, stored-energy control, arc-flash awareness, pneumatic and hydraulic energy isolation, proper PPE use, safe use of ladders and lifts, hot-work requirements, confined-space awareness where applicable, and safe troubleshooting of energized equipment.
