<table style="margin-left:0.9pt;border-collapse:collapse;border:none"><tbody><tr><td style="width:508.5pt;border:solid 1pt;padding:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt"><p style="margin:0px"><strong>The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position.</strong></p><p style="margin:0px"><strong> </strong></p><p style="margin:0px">A coder 1 is responsible for utilizing coding policies and procedures in evaluating the diagnostic information within the medical record for determination of accurate APC assignment for reimbursement of services rendered and for verifying/abstracting clinical information into the organization's health database.  A coder also makes medical necessity determinations for Medicare and Medicaid out-patient testing utilizing the appropriate software.</p><p style="margin:0px">A coder 1 functions under the direct authority and supervision of the Coding Supervisor and Director of Health Information Management.</p><p style="margin:0px">Some of the many skills performed </p><p style="margin-left:0.75in">·         Coding of diagnoses for ancillary outpatient services, i.e. Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, PFT, etc.</p></td></tr></tbody></table>

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
