In Michigan, a certified medication aide shall administrator prescription and OTC medications as approved only at the delegation of the registered nurse this includes oral, inhaled, topical, medications such as nasal spray or as drops or ointments to residents’ eye, ear or nose, rectal and vaginal medications. Prepare and administer medications and treatments except controlled medications, oxygen, injections, intravenously, parenteral or through any jejunostomy, gastrostomy, nasogastric or oral gastric tube, no initial dose or PRN medication as ordered by the physician and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
