Qualifications: High school diploma or its equivalent; a valid, verifiable driver’s license, a good driving record, reliable transportation and verifiable vehicle liability insurance; ability to work flexible hours including evening and weekend hours; ability to attend DMH-approved Therapeutic Mentor training for certification; knowledge of youth/young adult specific competencies, outlined below, to be attained within six (6) months of employment: Provides social interaction, both individually and as a group, to develop social and recreational skills and to help participants develop insight into their mental illness.

Responsibilities:
Primary Job Functions:General Responsibilities<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Provides support to youth by building trusting relationships</li><li>Supports, coaches and trains youth in age-appropriate behaviors</li><li>Supports, coaches and trains youth to demonstrate problem-solving and conflict resolution skills</li><li>Offers support and guidance to youth as they receive services</li><li>Participates in one-on-one meetings or treatment team meetings to discuss ideas, difficulties, suggestions, and expectations</li><li>Provides social interaction, both individually and as a group, to develop social and recreational skills and to help participants develop insight into their mental illness</li><li>Promotes recovery-oriented skills to help achieve goals created in the treatment plan</li><li>Connects youth and young adults to community supports, natural supports and additional programs</li><li>Assist participants in developing empowerment skills through self-advocacy and advocates on behalf of participant when needed</li><li>Acts as a resource and safe person for youth to approach with questions, concerns and accomplishments</li><li>Plans and conducts peer support groups focusing on topics related to recovery</li><li>Other tasks as assigned by supervisor</li></ul> Clinical Record Keeping<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy</li><li>Documents legibly and in a clear and concise manner</li><li>Documents individualized participant responses to services provided</li></ul> Supervision and Consultation<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Seeks supervision and consultation as needed</li><li>Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement</li><li>Actively works to enhance skills</li><li>Attends and participates in staff meetings as required</li></ul> Courteous and respectful attitudes towards participants, visitors and co-workers:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Treats participants with care, dignity and compassion</li><li>Respects participant’s privacy and confidentiality</li><li>Is pleasant and cooperative with others</li><li>Assists participants and visitors as needed</li><li>Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others</li><li>Is sensitive to the participant’s needs, expectations and individual differences</li><li>Is gentle and calm with participants and families</li></ul> Administrative and Other Related Duties as Assigned:<ul style="margin-top:0in"><li>Actively participates in Performance Improvement activities</li><li>Actively participates in AltaPointe committees as required</li><li>Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner</li><li>Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures</li><li>Attends appropriate in-services training and other workshops</li></ul>

The YMCA provides it's team members with a stream of development opportunities, starting with your First Aid/CPR Training and Certification.

The Northeast YMCA is looking to fill positions in our After School Program! Get paid to play and have fun! If you love working with children and are available to work M-F 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., we would like to hear from you! As an after school mentor, you will have an opportunity to work with youth in grades K-8th. Northeast Y Staff meet monthly for paid trainings and development sessions. Further development will be offered depending on the assigned site.Daily job duties include leading youth in recreational games, S.T.E.A.M., and creative activities as well as homework assistance.
