The official title for this role is “Residential Care Assistant”.</p><p><br/> CNA - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<br/> <br/> 1. Provides assistance with essential activities of daily living and personal care to residents based on age, needs and abilities of the resident, including bathing, dressing and undressing, ambulating, toileting, assistance with meals and nourishment's, personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail, hair and foot care), transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices and care of ADL devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.<br/> <br/> 2. Assists the resident with self-administration of medications, through cueing only</p><p><br/> 4. Observes and reports changes in the residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to ALSA Supervisor or Director of Assisted Living Services, as needed</p><p>5. Conducts room checks on resident rounds, monitors for environmental safety hazards, records incidents, errors or accidents and records resident and resident related events.<br/> <br/> 5. Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining (escorting residents, set-up and clean-up, serving meals)<br/> <br/> 6. Responsible for participating in and supporting the resident centered activity program. Completes required written documentation concerning resident care and activities during shift</p><p>7.  Is a resident advocate at all times</p><p>8.   Follows agency policies concerning confidentiality</p><p>9.  Uses tactful, diplomatic communication in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations and follows up with appropriate staff, resident or others regarding reported<br/> complaints, problems and concerns.<br/> 10.  Acts as ambassador to guest and other off-campus visitors and maintains certifications required for employment<br/> <br/> 11. Delegates Patient Care Assignments To Staff According To Identified Needs And Abilities.</li><li>2. Must Demonstrate The Appropriate Clinical Competencies For The Nursing Unit In Order To Evaluate, Plan And/Or Provide Patient Care Through Delegation, Consulting Or As A Direct Patient Care Provider.</li><li>3. Assist Manager With Hiring New Staff And Identifies And Communicates With Staff And Manager Any Disciplinary/Performance Issues.</li><li>4. Regularly Reviews And Monitors Quality Improvement Activities. Follows Through On Staff Participation In Quality Improvement Activities. Problem Solves As Necessary.</li><li>5. Intervenes In A Timely Manner To Resolve Customer Complaints. Holds Self And Others Accountable For Meeting Objectives And Commitments. Enforces High Standards For The Quality Of Patient Care Delivered On The Unit.</li><li>6. Communicates Clearly, Concisely And Effectively. Ensures That People Get The Information They Need To Do Their Jobs.</li><li>7. Actively Participates In Employees? Annual Review Process.</li><li>8. Functions As A Preceptor To New Staff. Assists The Manager And The Educator In Coordinating The Orientation Of New Staff. Ensures Staff Competencies Are Current.</li><li>9. Assists Nurse Manager In Maintaining Up-To-Date Resource Materials Necessary To Insure Proper Staff Development.</li><li>10. Provides Accurate And Consistent Interpretation And Application Of Human Resource Policies.</li><li>11. Assists Manager With The Development Of The Budget. Works With Staff To Adjust Resource Allocations To Demands. Assists The Nurse Manager In The Completion Of Weekly Payroll Processes.</li><li>12. Demonstrates The Ability To Provide A Safe Environment For Patients, Self And Staff.</li><li>13. Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff And Self Development As Outlined In Performance Review.</li><li>14. Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Directed To Ensure Smooth Operation Of The Department/Unit.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<p style="margin:0px">EDUCATION</p><p style="margin:0px"> </p><p style="margin:0px">Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required. BSN required or ADN accepted with proof of matriculation into a BSN program upon hire.</p><p style="margin:0px"> </p><p style="margin:0px">EXPERIENCE</p><p style="margin:0px"> </p><p style="margin:0px">2 - 5 Years Clinical experience preferred. One year of charge Nurse or equivalent experience preferred.</p><p style="margin:0px"> </p><p style="margin:0px">LICENSURE</p><p style="margin:0px"> </p><p style="margin:0px">Current Connecticut RN licensure. BLS required. Certification in specialty area required within one year of hire date.</p><p style="margin:0px"> </p>
