Role Summary:
This position is for a hands-on Field Service Technician who will support Rivian vehicle repairs. The role requires a collaborative, team-oriented individual capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. While the role is based in a primary location, it may require operating remotely or traveling to various locations, including the production plant, to provide vehicle support as business needs demand. This job description outlines the full spectrum of skills required, and candidates will be assessed against this spectrum to determine the appropriate level for their expertise.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Perform or assist with assigned vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections, whether at a service center or in the field directly at customer homes, businesses, or other convenient locations.</li><li>Identify and explain the Rivian product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories.</li><li>Utilize available technical resources to follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality or safety.</li><li>Conduct road tests to ensure the quality of repairs.</li><li>Manage necessary parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.</li><li>Identify areas of improvement and provide feedback to senior technicians or leadership.</li><li>Support service campaigns and containment initiatives.</li><li>Ensure that all work and technical notes are properly documented for internal and external use.</li><li>Work collaboratively with a team spirit and maintain high-quality work with minimal supervision.</li><li>Communicate with a high level of professionalism in customer-facing situations.</li><li>Stay current with technical skills and complete required training.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>High School Diploma, GED, or other recognized high school equivalency credential preferred</li><li>Proficient in using hand tools and power tools.</li><li>Must be at least 21 years old.</li><li>Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, with no driving-related suspensions or revocations within a 3-5 year period.</li><li>Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer is preferred.</li><li>Must be available for a 40-hour work week, which may include weekends, holidays, and shifts during early morning, evening, or overnight hours based on business needs.</li><li>Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments.</li><li>Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.</li><li>Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, walking, and frequent use of hands for grasping tools and data entry.</li><li>Physical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.).</li><li>Ability to read and speak fluent English.</li><li>Ability to see, read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics.</li><li>This role may require regular interaction with customers and their families, 3rd party affiliates, and suppliers within Rivian facilities, on mobile service routes, or at community outreach events.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Hands-on work experience in an automotive shop is highly preferred. This role is open to various levels of experience, from entry-level to career technicians</li><li>A background in electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid repair is considered a plus.</li><li>Experience in start-up environments is preferred.</li><li>Experience with parts departments, billing, and work order management systems is preferred.</li></ul>Spectrum of Technical Skills<ul><li>Low Voltage & Electrical Systems: Technicians should have a foundational understanding of basic electricity theory and be able to safely use a DVOM for various circuit measurements. Proficiency should extend to reading and leveraging electrical schematics as a diagnostic resource. Advanced candidates will demonstrate a deep understanding of automotive electronics, including CAN and LIN networks, and possess the ability to diagnose complex faults and perform wiring repairs according to manufacturer standards.</li><li>High Voltage Systems: A core requirement is understanding the risks involved with high voltage systems and the ability to safely power them down and work on them using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes understanding the function of various high voltage components and their monitoring systems. Highly skilled technicians will be capable of diagnosing complex high voltage faults related to charging, isolation, and interlock loop issues using the manufacturer’s diagnostic processes.</li><li>Chassis, Brakes & Suspension: Technicians should be proficient in fundamental chassis service, including the ability to mount and balance tires, perform vehicle alignments, and replace brake system components. The role requires the ability to diagnose mechanical suspension components and progress to repairing advanced vehicle dynamic issues related to traction control, ABS, and power steering. Top-tier candidates will be adept at resolving complex drivability concerns such as Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH).</li><li>Thermal Systems: Technicians must be able to service vehicle thermal systems, starting with the ability to perform a coolant drain-and-fill and safely handle refrigerant with a 609 certification. A comprehensive understanding of the entire A/C system and its components is expected. An ideal candidate can proficiently use an A/C machine and diagnose a range of thermal system concerns, including issues with coolant systems, air conditioning performance, and HVAC systems.</li><li>Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): A working knowledge of ADAS is required, beginning with a basic understanding of the features and their operation. Technicians will be expected to replace system components and perform necessary calibrations. Advanced understanding includes knowing the functionality and limitations of the complete ADAS system and the specific roles of its various sensors.</li><li>Body & Glass: The role includes responsibilities related to the vehicle body, from assisting with glass removal and installation to safely replacing windshields and other glued body fixtures. Technicians may be tasked with adjusting body panels to specified tolerances and should be capable of diagnosing and repairing issues such as wind noise and water leaks.</li></ul> Night shift hours vary by location. Field Service Technicians on the night shift will receive a 15% hourly shift differential on top of base hourly pay between the hours of 6PM-6AM

Pay Disclosure:
 The salary range for this role is $22.50 to $33.13 per hour for Tennessee based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus.  We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
