Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit or treatment; and documenting all findings in the electronic medical record (EMR) Obtains and documents accurate vital signs (height, weight, BP, temperature, pulse, and respirations); reports any abnormal readings to nursing staff or provider Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; performing phlebotomy and collecting laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests; disposing of contaminated supplies; preparing and administering topical, oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications according to physician''s order and hospital policy with proper documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Essential Position Functions & Duties 90% Patient/ Clinic Flow Management: Welcomes patients in person or on the telephone; answers or refers inquiries Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment.
