They assist the medical providers and may perform within the scope of practice of a medical assistant such as: support of clinic operations, rooming activities such as collect/record patient data including medical histories, patient questionnaires, medications, height, weight vital signs, pain, fall risk, and prepare patients for clinician evaluation. The MA may apply and remove dressings, administer medications (oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and inhaled), remove sutures, perform lab draws, participate/perform in-clinic procedures and other similar treatments and/or procedures within the MA scope of practice and organizational policy related to the specific service line.
