An ACT mental health professional assesses, plans, develops, coordinates, and directly provides flexible treatment, rehabilitation and support services to individuals who have the most serious symptoms of mental illness and who consequently have the greatest difficulty with basic daily activities such as keeping themselves safe, caring for their basic physical needs, maintaining a safe and affordable place to live, maintaining sobriety, and other activities of daily living. All ACT staff must obtain a basic knowledge of ACT programs and principles acquired through participation in MDHHS-approved ACT-specific initial training, and subsequent participation in at least one MDHHS-approved ACT-specific training annually thereafter.
