Job description: - API Designer - Expert Level Jersey City/Tampa, FL/Chicago, IL/Palo Alto, CA Long term Project JD: As an API Designer, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and evolving robust, scalable, and user-friendly APIs. As a Senior Lead Software Engineer within Commercial and Investment Banking team, you will play a key role in an agile team dedicated to building, enhancing, and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and problem-solving skills to address complex challenges across multiple technologies and applications, driving significant business impact through your contributions. Key Responsibilities :<ul><li>API Design: Design RESTful, GRPC, and/or event-driven APIs using best practices and industry standards (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger, AsyncAPI).</li><li>Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive API documentation and usage guides.</li><li>Collaboration: Work with product, engineering, and Architect teams to gather requirements and translate them into API specifications.</li><li>Standards & Governance: Define and enforce API design standards, style guides, and governance processes.</li><li>Prototyping: Build API prototypes and mock servers to validate designs and facilitate early feedback.</li><li>Developer Experience: Advocate for and implement features that improve the developer experience, such as versioning, error handling, and discoverability.</li><li>Lifecycle Management: Support the full API lifecycle, including versioning, deprecation, and backward compatibility.</li><li>Quality Assurance: Collaborate with QA and development teams to ensure APIs are well-tested and meet performance, security, and reliability standards.</li><li>Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with API trends, tools, and technologies, and drive continuous improvement in API design practices.</li></ul> Required Skills & Qualifications <ul><li>Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 10+ years of applied experience</li><li>Strong understanding of REST, GRPC, and/or event-driven API paradigms</li><li>Proficiency with API specification tools (OpenAPI/Swagger, RAML, AsyncAPI, Postman, etc.)</li><li>Experience with API gateways, management platforms, and developer portals</li><li>Excellent communication and documentation skills</li><li>Familiarity with security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, API keys, etc.)</li><li>Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications <ul><li>Experience with AWS (EKS)</li><li>Knowledge of Micro Services & Domain Driven architecture</li><li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated API testing</li><li>Contributions to open-source API tools or standards</li></ul>Additional Job Details: About Tanisha Systems, Inc. Join OceanComm’s engineering team and help build undersea drones, intelligent sensors, and other cutting-edge undersea technology. This is a hands-on role for new graduates in electronics, electromechanical technology, mechatronics, or related technical programs who want real experience with PCB assembly, test setups, troubleshooting, and field deployment. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers, receive training, and contribute to products used in defense, offshore energy, and oceanographic research. This role will start as a 3 month internship, and a strong performer will be considered for a full-time position.About UsUnderwater, the wireless transfer of a single picture used to take an hour. We brought to market wireless modems that transfer data 100 to 1000 times faster. Legacy modems were basically status/command links; our modems can control undersea drones with live video feedback - a game changer for exploring the underwater world. Because radio waves attenuate quickly underwater, our modems use sound waves to communicate.What You Will Do<ul><li>Ramp up manufacturing of our modems and ensure quality through testing</li><li>Design, build, and script semi-automated test setups</li><li>Build and troubleshoot printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), proprietary sensors and other electro-mechanical hardware</li><li>Help integrate our modems into undersea drones and other cutting-edge maritime systems and test the integrated systems at-sea</li><li>Design and machine mounts and housings using CAD/CAM software and a CNC mill</li><li>Handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines</li><li>Be an active participant in continuous improvement activities, provide feedback on ways we can improve our manufacturing operations</li><li>Help build a positive and collaborative team culture that promotes product knowledge and skills development</li><li>Keep the workspace clean, organized, and safe for yourself and your colleagues</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Associate degree in Electronics, Electromechanical Technology, or a related technical field, with an emphasis on micro-electronics</li><li>Hands-on experience through coursework, projects, or work in electronics assembly, soldering, and use of basic electrical test equipment</li><li>Willingness to learn and expand your skillset in surface mount soldering and rework, PCBA troubleshooting, machining, and computer scripts</li><li>Willing to travel up to 20% of the time</li><li>Ability to work on a boat to deploy and operate modems at-sea</li><li>Willing to expand your skillset into machining and computer scripts</li><li>Ability to lift 35 lbs pounds regularly</li><li>U.S. Person</li></ul>What Will Put You Ahead<ul><li>Experience with computer-aided design, 3D printing, and/or machining</li><li>Experience developing computer scripts, for example, to interface with lab equipment or automate tests</li><li>Experience reworking BGAs</li><li>Experience working with electrical systems up to 400 VDC</li><li>Personal or team projects working hands-on with hardware. This could be tinkering with embedded electronics such as Arduino or ESP32, or membership in a robotics club.
