Position Type: High School Teacher/Social Studies Teacher Date Posted: 5/7/2026 Location: Westbrook High School (High-Needs School) The Westbrook School Department is seeking a Social Studies Teacher at WestbrookHigh School for the school year 2026-2027 and beyond. This position will include teaching US History, as well as a several semester elective course like Pop Culture and America Now. Job Description Westbrook High School is seeking a creative, engaging and energetic social studies teacher to join our social studies department. This is a full-time position that will help us offer a wider variety of stimulating and engaging courses. The ideal candidate will have experience as a 9-12 social studies teacher, strong content knowledge, willingness to collaborate and share best practices with colleagues, and be skilled at working with all students. We are looking for a candidate with experience working with a team of educators to plan lessons, units and assessments. We also prefer a candidate who has experience working with special education and multilingual learners, skilled in differentiation, and the application of 21st Century teaching and learning strategies. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with SEL and other holistic practices that help students access their academics and enrich their lives. Finally, this candidate should reflect a teacher whose academic strength is matched by a love of teaching and demonstrated range and flexibility to reach diverse students. We hope to attract a candidate who is excited to teach both US and World I, as well as a semester long elective in one of a variety of topics. The ideal candidate will be fully certified with fingerprinting and a favorable background check. About the School Westbrook High School is proud to serve the City of Westbrook. Our learners represent 27 different countries of origin and speak over 15 languages other than English. Finally, we are proud to prepare students for the Seal of Bi-Literacy through our Multilingual Learner programming and our Modern and Classical Language courses.
