The on-site Network Engineer shall perform the following minimum duties: • Assisting the System Administrators • Assisting the Lead Network Engineer in developing and implementing IT/network plans • Managing network operations using simple network management protocol (SNMP) network management tools • Diagnosing and troubleshooting network problems with network protocol capture/decode analyzers • Planning and building network from open system interconnect (OSI) Layer 1 through Layer 3 • Managing TCP/IP internetworking connectivity to include addressing and subnetting • Monitoring network as defined in the network monitoring plan • Installing, configuring, updating and documenting the physical cable plant • Installing, configuring and managing networking hardware (switches, bridges, hubs, concentrators, transceivers) • Installing, configuring and managing network security (firewalls, IP blocking) • Configuring and managing virtual private networks (VPNs).
