p>To assist the division in pursuit of this mission, the Research and Data Services Unit is responsible to: - Ensure that high quality and trustworthy research and assessments are used to manage salmon and other resources by providing expert statistical and modeling input for salmon stock assessments, escapement goal development, and forecasting;
- Facilitate efforts to retrieve and archive historical data and samples for future management and research uses;
- Support ongoing activities of the division and department through concerted and coordinated assistance to regional and headquarters staff; primarily through:
1) providing technical assistance on scientific research including design, methods, training, reporting, and budgets;
2) communicating stock assessment and research results with appropriate context; and.
Substitution:
A bachelors degree from an accredited college that includes or is supplemented by the following credit hours will substitute for the degree in a specific field:
- at least 24 semester hours (36 quarter hours) in biology, a branch of biology, limnology, biometrics, oceanography, forestry, aquaculture, aquatic ecology, fisheries resources, or natural resource management (excluding courses that focus on agricultural husbandry techniques, human population dynamics, or the design and manipulation of landscapes), of which 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) are upper division courses; and.
