The Security Officer 1 patrols, observes and reports incidents or activities that appear to be in violation of the law or violation of university rules and regulation and of a questionable and suspicious nature; reports accidents involving persons or property; report probable cause of incidents and pursue appropriate course of action and informs proper authorities as required; directs and controls traffic on campus; handle duties as prescribed by an assigned fixed post orders; enforce and abide by all lawful orders and directives give to you by your immediate supervisor and supervisory chain of command; testify in court or in legal proceedings as required by the nature of your position; check for valid university identification and any other plaque, decal, or sticker issued by the university; issues parking citations; operates and maintains security equipment; keeps records and makes reports; and performs other related work as assigned. Meets the requirements of TCA 38-8-106, Qualifications of Police Officers; be at least eighteen (18) years of age; be a citizen of the United States; be a high school graduate or possess equivalency; not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty to or entered a plea of nolo contendere to any felony charge or to any violation of any federal or state laws or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, dishonesty, gambling, liquor or controlled substances; not have been released or discharged under any other than honorable discharge from any of the armed forces of the United States; have his fingerprints on file with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician; have a good moral character as determined by the thorough investigation conducted by the employing agency; and be free of all apparent mental disorders as described in the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders, Third Edition (DSM-111) of the American Psychiatric Association.
