Maintains a safe work area, including places and removing cones, barricades, warning devices, and/or directs traffic at work sites to ensure the safety of work crew and public; cleans up work sites upon completion of the job; picks up all tools and equipment; secures the job site if returning later; washes vehicles and equipment as needed; cleans up shop areas; maintains tools and equipment in safe and operable conditions; safe use, mix, and dilute all chemicals according to direction labels; and when operating motor vehicles, observe safe driving principles and practices. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Drives and operates various Street Department equipment and vehicles to accomplish a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to, hauling, dumping, and spreading gravel, sand, asphalt, plowing snow, picking up and hauling debris, and transporting Street Department equipment, tools, and material.
