Optometrist Wexford Health Sources IncOptometristWVDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Examines the eyes of patients of various ages to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality and defects in vision; • Checks for signs and symptoms of general health conditions (for example diabetes); • Communicates with patients to get detailed case histories; • Uses specialist electronic equipment for diagnosis and testing; • Writes prescriptions for glasses, contact lenses and other optical appliances; • Fits and checks prescribed lenses in order to correct vision defects; • Offers advice and reassurance about matters related to vision; • Offers help and advice for patients choosing frames and lenses; • Writes referral notices to doctors; • Assists with the creation of monthly reports for Wexford Health for submission to WVDCR; • Undertakes training and continuous professional development in order to keep up to date with the latest techniques. LICENSURE: Current unrestricted West Virginia Optometry license CERTIFICATION: Current CPR Certification EDUCATION: Graduate from an accredited school of Optometry PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience preferred; correctional experience preferred.
