The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for supporting the Shipping Supervisor and assisting with managing and coordinating all activities related to the Shipping & Receiving Department, as well as providing leadership and direction for shipping staff. Inspect forklifts, trailers, commercial vehicles, and other equipment daily and report any maintenance issues to Shipping Supervisor.

POSITION SUMMARY The Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for supporting the Shipping Supervisor and assisting with managing and coordinating all activities related to the Shipping & Receiving Department, as well as providing leadership and direction for shipping staff. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES <ul><li>Safe operation of forklift or other powered equipment in the loading, unloading, moving, stacking, and staging of product.</li><li>Safe operation of box truck in the delivery of product to local customer.</li><li>Ensures accuracy of orders and inventory by completing tally sheets and auditing procedures</li><li>Inspect forklifts, trailers, commercial vehicles, and other equipment daily and report any maintenance issues to Shipping Supervisor. </li><li>Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.</li><li>Effectively store product in appropriate locations.</li><li>Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage by following audit procedures.</li><li>Document and report any variances appropriately. </li><li>Pull and prepare orders for shipment.</li><li>Prepare & keep accurate paperwork to guarantee accurate inventory control.</li><li>Lead and motivate team members in the assigned area to achieve department goals.</li><li>Detects and reports defective materials, questionable conditions, or incorrect counts to the Shipping Supervisor.</li><li>Train associates in proper procedures, packaging standards, inventory principles, etc. </li><li>Ensure employees practice safe work habits and utilize appropriate and required PPE. </li><li>Responsible for the 5S housekeeping system within assigned work areas - individually and within department.</li><li>Works with other Team Leads and Supervisors to ensure on-time shipment of customer goods.</li><li>Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.</li></ul> Requirements JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and EDUCATION <ul><li>High School Diploma/GED and 3-5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. </li><li>Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory controls</li><li>Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office</li><li>Must be able to utilize tape measure, decimal and fraction.</li><li>Must be able to read and interpret drawings and follow routers (work instructions)</li><li>Must be able to use basic handheld measuring tools.</li><li>Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively problem solve</li><li>Knowledge of the manufacturing process, as it relates to shipping, receiving, and inventory</li><li>Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers at all levels of business</li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to sit/stand/walk throughout the shift as required</li><li>Ability to work in standing position throughout shift, with frequent walking.</li></ul> WORKING CONDITIONS <ul><li>Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Work involves standing, walking, and lifting during shift schedule.</li><li>Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable or hazardous.</li><li>Noise level is normal for a manufacturing environment.</li></ul>
