Initiates and assists Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians in patient treatment to acutely ill or traumatized patients both on the scene and while in route to the hospital, utilizing both invasive and non-invasive techniques and initial protocol treatment based on patient condition, which may include implementing automated external defibrillator, performing basic airway management, positive pressure ventilation, cardiac resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and pharmacological therapy.
