Every job function in our organization, whether it’s on the docks or behind the scenes in administrative roles, finance, payroll, or IT, has a significant impact on the national economy and critical supply chain operations.Where the pulse of global trade meets the precision of maritime excellence, at Ports America, we don’t just move cargo; we drive the nation’s economic engine!At FAPS, part of the Ports America family of companies, our Painter will complete final prep, spray painting and clear coating on vehicles as assigned.Essential Duties:<ul><li>In completing final prep, inspect vehicles for body damage.</li><li>Fine line tape the damaged vehicle or part.</li><li>Properly clean the surface to be painted and tack it off.</li><li>Mix paint for acceptable color match.</li><li>Observe proper safety pre-cautions, spray paint prepped surface, insuring adequate coverage and acceptable color match.</li><li>Blend paint to meet manufacturer’s quality standards.</li><li>Clean equipment and maintain proper working order.</li><li>Complete each job in an efficient manner, observing the highest quality standards of each manufacturer, so that the work will not have to be repeated.</li><li>Complete reports on each job as required by the manufacturer.</li><li>Maintain inventory of paint supplies on an ongoing basis. Notify manager when additional supplies are needed.</li><li>Attend training as needed to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.</li><li>Assist in training and orientating new employees and co-workers as requested.</li><li>Suggest methods for improving operations in the department as appropriate.</li><li>Ensure a spotter is present when backing up vehicles.</li><li>Maintain a clean and hazard free work environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li><li>SHIFT: Monday – Friday 7:00am -3:30pm with possibility of overtime and/or weekend work as directed by business need.</li></ul> Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>2+ years of formal auto body training or certification</li><li>2+ years experience operating automatic and straight (manual) shift vehicles</li><li>High School Diploma or GED</li><li>Valid US Driver’s License</li><li>Ability to obtain a Port Access Card issued by the New Jersey State Police.</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Demonstrated commitment to safety</li><li>Excellent communication skills both written and verbal</li><li>Proven problem-solving abilities</li><li>Deadline and detail oriented</li><li>Obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Badge) issued by the Department of Homeland Security</li></ul> Physical Working Conditions:<ul><li>Work with paints and solvents.</li><li>Use hands and finger(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls</li><li>Lift, push, and or pull up to 90lbs</li><li>Work in shop environment with high noise level and small ventilated painting booth</li><li>Wear PPE (personal protective equipment) including but not limited to gloves, goggles, protective coveralls, respirator, etc.</li><li>Stand, bend, stoop, kneel crouch, and or crawl throughout shift</li><li>Work in varying climates as well as be exposed to outdoor elements such as heat, cold, rain, and other conditions</li></ul> NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
