KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques and demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills; Proficient in basic phlebotomy skills, client education and administration of Oral, IM, SC, and intradermal (PPD) medications; Basic knowledge in conducting Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, and Reassessment for providing quality residential patient care; Knowledge of referral and residential placement process within the criminal justice system is desirable; Maintains current nursing knowledge to assure a safe working environment; Ability to communicate effectively in a verbal and written manner; Ability to establish working relationships with support staff, probation officers, the clients and community-based treatment agencies; Demonstrates successful conflict resolution skills; Facilitate and promote teamwork; Proficient in operating Windows-based word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing is required; Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nurse Examiners and in good standing is required; One (1) year full-time experience as an RN in a hospital or clinical setting is required; Prior experience in corrections, mental health, or drug treatment facility is preferred; Certified Instructor of the CPR is highly desirable; Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification is desirable; Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred. The Registered Nurse within this Department serves at the staff level and is selected by the Residential Director and an Administrative panel after having met the requisite education, training, and experience criteria set out in this job description.
