This position serves as a laboratory assistant whose duties include correctly accessioning and setting up gross specimens, assist with labeling of cases, making blocks for grossing, reconciling cases after grossing, recording blocks and preparing blocks for transport to the histology laboratory, maintaining chemical and biohazard elements, keeping supply inventory and ordering, recording equipment temperatures, and discarding tissue. This position works with hazardous and biohazardous substances, displeasing odors and materials, as well as hazardous chemicals such as xylene and formaldehyde.
