Nurses care for a complex patient population that includes presentations of ESRD, cirrhosis, COPD, and psychiatric conditions, with frequent encounters involving trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, moderate sedation, substance abuse disorders, psychological disorders, CHF, and abdominal and chest pain. The department uses Cerner as its electronic health record and is equipped with Zoll Defibrillators, Level One Blood Transfusers, QinFlow Blood Warmers, Hospira Plum360 infusion pumps, Freestyle and iStat point-of-care devices, and ultrasound-guided IV capability.
