Completion of a technician certification program, certification as Pharmacy Technician by the National Technician Board (PTCB) with required continuing education credits to maintain certification, and a successful completion of department administered qualifying examination, OR Enrollment or graduation from a medically-related training program (e.g., RN, LPN, and RPh), certification as Pharmacy Technician by the National Technician Board (PTCB) with required continuing education credits to maintain certification, and a successful completion of department administered qualifying examination (Effective November 1, 2002 new hires must obtain national certification within 18 months of employment). Under the supervision and direction of a Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist, completes daily cart fill procedures including Robot dispensing, Automatic Dispensing Cabinet responsibilities first doses, delivery of medications to patient care areas, repackaging of pharmaceuticals, monthly nursing station inspections, assembly or non-patient specific IV product and preparation of sterile compounds utilizing automation.
