On ETC shifts, the physician evaluates and manages patients presenting with acute complications of cancer or its treatment: stabilizing high-acuity oncology and hematology patients, initiating diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, collaborating with subspecialty teams, and determining disposition (home, CDU observation, or hospital admission).
