They lead crews that fly and fight from aircraft carriers and shore stations, manage advanced aircraft systems and tactics, and oversee the maintenance and readiness of the Navy's aviation fleet. Key Responsibilities Plan, brief, fly, and debrief missions in jets, helicopters, turboprops, and other tactical aircraft to conduct strike, air superiority, anti submarine warfare, maritime patrol, electronic warfare, airborne early warning, and search and rescue missions. As Pilots, operate aircraft from ships and shore, conduct carrier qualifications, and execute missions that require precise flying in demanding environments. As Naval Flight Officers, manage sensors, weapons, navigation, communications, and mission systems, direct tactics, and coordinate the aircrew and external forces. As Aviation Maintenance Duty Officers, lead and manage aircraft maintenance and material readiness, ensure safe and effective execution of maintenance programs, and coordinate the people, parts, and processes that keep squadrons mission capable. What to Expect Expect a high tempo, high technology aviation environment with a structured training pipeline followed by demanding fleet tours. Daily work blends flight operations, simulator events, mission planning, debriefs, and maintenance or readiness oversight. Officers assume significant responsibility early, leading aircrews, maintenance teams, and watch sections while maintaining personal proficiency and physical fitness. Deployments on aircraft carriers and with expeditionary squadrons alternate with shore tours focused on training, staff work, or further education. Work Environment Work primarily at Naval Air Stations, aboard aircraft carriers and other aviation capable ships, and at aviation training commands. Time is divided between cockpits, simulators, mission planning and briefing rooms, maintenance control spaces, and offices. Aviation Officers operate in a variety of climates and time zones, often working irregular hours and night operations to meet flight schedules and mission requirements. Pathways, Training & Advancement Officers normally complete a commissioning program through the United States Naval Academy, Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps, Officer Candidate School, or a collegiate officer program and then report to aviation training. Pilot and Naval Flight Officer candidates complete aviation indoctrination in Pensacola, followed by primary, intermediate, and advanced flight training at locations such as NAS Whiting Field, NAS Corpus Christi, and training commands in Florida and Texas. After earning Wings of Gold, they complete Fleet Replacement Squadron training in a specific aircraft before joining operational squadrons. Aviation Maintenance Duty Officers complete officer accession training and receive formal technical and managerial training in naval aviation maintenance before reporting to fleet maintenance billets. Throughout their careers, Naval Aviation Officers attend additional tactical, leadership, and maintenance management courses and may compete for graduate education, including opportunities at the Naval Postgraduate School. Officers typically access Naval Aviation through USNA, NROTC, Officer Candidate School, or collegiate programs, and are selected for Pilot, Naval Flight Officer, or Aviation Maintenance Duty Officer pipelines based on performance, aptitude, medical qualification, and the needs of the Navy. Prospective aviation officers are assigned to aviation training squadrons prior to commissioning or shortly after commissioning and begin primary flight or aviation maintenance training upon arrival. Navy Reserve aviation billets usually require prior qualification and experience as a Naval Aviator, Naval Flight Officer, or Aviation Maintenance Duty Officer rather than direct entry from civilian life. Qualifications All Navy jobs require meeting general enlistment or commissioning standards, which typically include: Eligibility to serve in the United States Navy, which may involve United States citizenship or other legal residency and work status, depending on the program and current law and policy A high school diploma or equivalent for enlisted positions, and a bachelor's or qualifying professional degree for officer positions Meeting age limits that vary by program and are set in law and Navy policy. Responsibilities:

Overview:
Air Methods is seeking an experienced aviation leader to oversee and support HealthNet operations throughout West Virginia. This position serves as the primary aviation leadership representative for the HealthNet program and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations across the region. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of the West Virginia operating environment, including regional geography, weather challenges, customer relationships, and the operational demands unique to HealthNet. This is an active flying leadership role, not solely an administrative management position. The Regional Aviation Manager (RAM) is expected to maintain aircraft qualifications and operational currency while supporting frontline operations through occasional flight duty assignments as needed. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience within Part 135 operations, the ability to build strong relationships across operational teams, and a commitment to safety, accountability, and service excellence.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for supporting the organization, direction and administration tasks assigned within a regional area in relationship to overseeing aviation activities and personnel. Specific areas of focus are safety and training. Responsible for daily aviation duties. May be required to work with other field management including regional leadership, maintenance, and clinical to ensure a coordinated and efficient response to service requests.  Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: • Ensure all operations within region are compliant with regulations, operations specifications and General Operations Manual. • Participates as a member of Air Methods’ management team to promote a successful operation. • Researches and reports to Director of Operations on FRx budget/actual variances • Ensures completion of aviation management portions of Base Startup, Closure and Movement Manual. • Ensures that revisions for the Operations Manual and Operations Specifications are distributed and revised as required and the appropriate Publications Verification Form(s) are completed and submitted to the certificate holder. • Provides tactical management of the integration of aircraft, assuring availability and trained pilots in support of operational requirements. • Delegate’s aviation field logistical support to Area Manager. • Attends or delegates attendance to fleet status teleconferences (KPI Dashboard). • Coordinates pilot training in conjunction with the Pilot Training team for the area. • Coordinates with Regional Safety Director on safety related issues while providing technical and professional assistance to eliminate or control unsafe behaviors in coordination with Area Manager. • Assists in the Investigation of aviation mishaps and in performing a root cause analysis upon request. • Submits all required reporting regarding flight personnel to the Regional Aviation Director. • Monitors the behaviors and performance of aviation personnel to assure they comply with Air Methods’ policies and procedures. • Ensures that the 411 system is being utilized by pilots. • Responsible to ensure audit deficiencies and compliance issues found in their area of responsibility are corrected. • Coordinates with Regional Clinical Managers to schedule and conduct medical crewmember and communication specialist initial and recurrent training. Monitor crewmember Computer Training System (CTS) compliance. Conduct Air Medical Resource Management training. • Ensure in-service training for aviation and medical personnel occurs prior to placing a back-up aircraft back in service and training records are accurate. • Responsible for conducting or coordinating ferry and MOC flights. • Monitors and responds to Accidental, Incident, Damage, Malfunction, Operations Report (AIDMOR) submissions. • Coordinates with the Regional Maintenance Director/Manager on timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies impacting maintenance activities informing Area Manager. • Complete initial subscription for GPS update for assigned aircraft; base maintainers manage recurring downloads. • Acts as the on-scene representative for all accidents/incidents occurring within assigned area coordinated with Area Managers. • Educates with pilots the Safety Manage System (SMS) and the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) program. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, available 24/7 for operational requirements. • Other Duties as assigned.
