Position Overview Reporting to the Director of Education, the Principal will: <ul><li>Oversee programmatic approaches and interventions with students</li><li> </li><li>Supervise curriculum, instruction, and academic/behavioral progress</li><li> </li><li>Manage special education programming and services</li><li> </li><li>Lead extracurricular activities and foster stakeholder relationships</li><li> </li><li>Provide supervision to the leadership team and school staff</li><li> </li><li>Maintain administrative oversight of school operations</li></ul> Qualifications <ul><li>Required: ISBE Type 75 Administrative License; valid Illinois drivers license</li><li> </li><li>Preferred:</li><li> <ul><li>3+ years of supervisory experience</li><li> </li><li>5+ years working with youth with severe emotional or behavioral challenges</li><li> </li><li>LBS I and/or LBS II certification</li></ul></li></ul> Note: All prospective employees must complete a pre-employment physical and background check. Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Ensuring that academic policies and curriculum are followed</li><li>Developing and tracking benchmarks for measuring institutional success</li><li>Helping teachers maximize their teaching potential</li><li>Meeting and listening to concerns of students on a regular basis</li><li>Encouraging, guiding and assisting student leaders and teachers</li><li>Meeting with parents and administrators on a regular basis for problem resolution</li><li>Enforcing discipline when necessary</li><li>Providing an atmosphere free of any bias in which students can achieve their maximum potential.</li><li>Teach the knowledge and skills, nurture the confidence and character, and meet the needs of all students by utilizing SESI instructional models, strategies, and curriculum</li><li>Utilize school’s behavior management and intervention strategies including but not limited to de-escalation techniques, crisis management, and PBIS strategies.</li><li>Drive, record, and track student growth and progress towards academic, social, and emotional goals</li><li>Ensure that all students are being educated in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)</li><li>Observe classrooms on a regular basis both formally (using observation forms to provide appropriate staff feedback) and informally</li><li>Attend and participate in regional activities including weekly Director’s Meeting</li><li>Attend and participate in a monthly Goal Review with Supervisor; demonstrating consistent growth and goal completion</li><li>Forge and maintain stakeholder relationships (district officials, parents, etc.)</li><li>Maintain excellent records including financial, state licensing, student, and employee documentation</li><li>Develop, monitor, and maintain the school's budget, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.</li><li>Analyze profit and loss statements, identify areas for improvement, and propose strategies for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.</li><li>Collaborate with the finance department to prepare financial reports and forecasts, providing regular updates to the school administration.</li><li>Assist in creating and enforcing HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.</li><li>Support staff professional development initiatives, identifying training needs and organizing relevant workshops or programs.</li><li>Manage enrollment processes, including student admissions, transfers, and withdrawals.</li><li>Coordinate daily school operations, ensuring smooth communication among various departments.</li><li>Collaborate with facilities management to address maintenance and infrastructure needs.</li><li>Implement systems and procedures to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness within the school.</li><li>Organize and facilitate IEP meetings, collaborating with teachers, parents, and relevant stakeholders.</li><li>Maintain accurate documentation of special education services, progress reports, and related records.</li><li>Stay updated with best practices and research in special education, ensuring the implementation of evidence-based strategies.</li><li>Lead the development and implementation of a school-wide PBIS program.(Thought partner)</li><li>Provide guidance and support to teachers in implementing PBIS practices.</li><li>Other duties may be assigned</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Master’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Social or Behavior Sciences, or a related field required</li><li>Administration credential preferred</li><li>Extensive experience with students with disabilities strongly preferred</li></ul> SESI.WEST.1

USD $108,000.00/Yr.

Physical Requirements:
<ul><li>Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.</li><li>Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often requiring the handling of up to 50 pounds or more.</li><li>Skill in managing fine motor tasks, such as helping students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.</li><li>Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.</li><li>Capacity to notice and respond to non-verbal cues from students</li><li>Capacity to remain calm and composed during physically and emotional demanding situations, ensuring student safety and well-being </li></ul>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
