Additionally, Sportech takes into account the internal equity of current employees when considering compensation. Sportech's reasonable and good-faith estimate for the range of new hire compensation at the time of posting for this position is between $63,000 - $73,000 annually. Pay may also include variable compensation from time to time such as overtime for non-exempt positions, shift differential for specific shifts, and/or bonus targets (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Job SummaryThe Buyer reports to the Senior Buyer and is responsible for procurement of materials, inventory levels and supplier management in support of production operations. Essential Job Functions<ul><li>Procure materials & equipment in support of production and internal operations.</li><li>Negotiate basic price, terms, and conditions through ethical and professional negotiations; obtain quotes, place, and expedite orders and resolve discrepancies as needed.</li><li>Manage material flow and inventory levels, of assigned commodities, to ensure proper flow of materials to production. </li><li>Understand and communicate specifications, as well as design changes, to suppliers.</li><li>Maintain and update costs in the system to ensure accurate reporting.</li><li>Continually assess supplier capabilities via periodic visits to their facilities.</li><li>Monitor supplier performance and communicate performance results.</li><li>Follow-up with suppliers on continuous improvement activities including corrective actions related to performance.</li><li>Manage communications of non-conforming materials to and from suppliers.</li><li>Participate in and support continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency, reduce costs and achieve company goals based on analytical reviews.</li><li>Identify supply sources for new materials and purchase the required materials to support those efforts.</li></ul> <ul><li>BA or BS degree (Business, Operations Mgmt, Supply Chain Mgmt, related) strongly preferred with 3-5 years of experience in a purchasing or materials management role.</li><li>5 - 8 years relevant experience in lieu of education considered.</li><li>Hands on experience with ERP/MRP systems and demand-base planning systems is essential. OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Supply Chain team supporting our Minnesota Precision Machining Division, which serves both semiconductor and a growing Aerospace & Defense (A&D) customer base.  This role is critical to ensuring supply continuity, supporting new product introductions (NPI), and managing supplier performance during a period of rapid growth and operational complexity. The Minnesota site supports AS9100-certified Aerospace & Defense programs while continuing to scale semiconductor production, requiring close supplier collaboration, strong procurement discipline, and effective cross-functional coordination.  The Buyer will work closely with Engineering, Planning, Quality, and Operations to manage procurement activities, support NPI programs, and mitigate supply risks that could impact production ramps and customer commitments.Specific Job Duties:NPI & Prototype Procurement<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Manage quoting, supplier engagement, and purchasing execution for NPI and prototype programs</li><li>Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers and materials to support new product development</li><li>Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure suppliers meet Aerospace & Defense compliance requirements</li><li>Document and institutionalize AS9100 and customer-specific purchasing requirements within procurement processes</li></ul>Supplier & Commodity Management<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Monitor supplier delivery commitments and drive resolution of shortages, delays, or quality issues</li><li>Communicate demand forecasts and coordinate production requirements with suppliers</li><li>Monitor purchasing activity to minimize incremental material spend while protecting supply continuity</li><li>Maintain strong supplier relationships and drive accountability for performance metrics</li></ul>Supply Risk & Escalation Management<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Identify capacity constraints, delivery risks, or material shortages that may impact production</li><li>Lead supply recovery plans with suppliers and internal stakeholders</li><li>Escalate issues effectively while driving root cause analysis and corrective actions</li></ul> Education:<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred</li></ul>Experience<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>3–8+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in manufacturing environments</li><li>Experience supporting precision machining, semiconductor equipment, or Aerospace & Defense supply chains strongly preferred</li><li>Experience with AS9100 or regulated manufacturing environments preferred</li></ul>Systems<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Experience working in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar)</li><li>Familiarity with PLM systems such as Agile is a plus</li></ul>Key Competencies<ul style="list-style-type:disc"><li>Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high PO volumes</li><li>Clear and concise communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders</li><li>Ability to manage supply risk and drive issue resolution</li><li>Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented</li><li>Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment</li><li>Willingness to collaborate with global suppliers and teams across time zones</li></ul> Location RequirementThis role is based on-site in Minnesota to support close collaboration with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams, and to meet the engagement and documentation requirements associated with Aerospace & Defense programs and AS9100 compliance.For candidates based in Minnesota, the pay range for this salaried exempt position is $58,700 - $95,000. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure, and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.
