Inspects capital improvement, commercial, industrial, subdivision, and other development projects; reviews construction activities, materials, and workmanship; observes and verifies required testing; identifies deficiencies and non-compliant work; prepares inspection reports and maintains accurate inspection records; communicates requirements and deficiencies to contractors, developers, and other responsible parties; coordinates with appropriate departments, consultants, engineers, and agencies as necessary; responds to citizen complaints and inquiries regarding construction activities and related concerns; and performs related duties as assigned. Requires solid interpersonal, oral, and written skills, the ability to effectively interact and communicate with individuals of varying social, cultural, economic, professional, and educational backgrounds including the ability to act with tact, good judgment and discretion; the ability to effectively work with individuals who may be angry or skeptical, argumentative, or disagreeable; the ability to effectively work with individuals under stressful conditions; and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of matters as appropriate.
