Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of eleven stations. Position Summary This position will help maintain IT systems that are in place, work on IT projects and help resolve problem requests. This includes support of computer hardware and software, network systems, monitoring systems and workstation software. Additionally, this position provides maintenance for North Carolina Public Radios' studios, equipment, automation, AoIP and digital audio library systems. S/he maintains the AoIP network and perform daily/monthly maintenance tasks to keep the facilities running smoothly with minimal interruption. The range of duties is diverse, encompassing anything from replacing a pair of headphones, to setting up a remote broadcast, to installing a new digital console. S/he also spends time travelling to WUNC's studios and transmitter sites in surrounding cities for maintenance or assistance to our Engineer. This position will help bridge IT and Engineering. Finally work on Facilities projects will be essential, being the liaison or primary project manager on Facilities and building issues and projects. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Associate's degree in electronics and three years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media engineering environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Management Preferences * Essential knowledge of studio equipment, recording equipment, ISDNs, AolP (Wheatstone). * Project management skills and experience, great communication, and great documentation skills. * The ability to work a flexible schedule on nights, weekends and occasional holidays as needed. * Strong background in media operations, experience with Wide Orbit ideal. * Ability to work under pressure and meet short deadlines. Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements The capacity to move equipment up to 50 lbs, reaching overhead, bending and twisting. Curtis Media Group has an immediate opening for an experienced Director of Engineering, for a group of highly rated radio stations that span the state of North Carolina.Job Duties:<ul><li>Management and oversight of a four-person engineering team, as well as contract engineering</li><li>Solving day-to-day issues for our talented programming staff working in state-of-the-art radio studios</li><li>Working closely with the CEO and COO, to identify engineering problems and solutions and implement new technology as appropriate</li><li>Ensuring our radio stations operate in compliance with FCC rules and regulations, along with applicable state and local regulations.</li><li>Management and budgeting of capital equipment repair and replacement</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>At least five years of experience in broadcasting engineering, preferably supervising an engineering department</li><li>Associates degree in electronics or other technical field, OR commensurate experience in broadcast engineering positions</li><li>Baseline IT skills including experience with networks, Microsoft operating systems, and PC hardware; familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and security hardware/software.</li><li>Basic familiarity with HVAC systems and principles</li><li>Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to work sites as required.</li><li>Ability to lift reasonable weights, work on ladders and in enclosed spaces.</li><li>Experience with WideOrbit automation, MediaTouch automation, BE AudioVault automation, and Wheatnet IP audio systems will be a plus.</li><li>SBE certification will be a plus.</li></ul>After-hours on-call availability is expected; some weekend or holiday work may be required.Interested applicants please send resume to Katelyn Bullard: kbullard@curtismedia.comCurtis Media Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Powered by JazzHR
