Position: *CHS Travel:CT Scan Tech / Radiology (R) - Weekend NightsPosition Information:Position Information: The CT Technologist is a graduate of an accredited AMA school and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). The CT Technologist is licensed by the state as a general radiographer and is responsible for providing timely diagnostic services to both inpatient and outpatients under the direction of a Radiologist and departmental protocols. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the performance of basic radiographic procedures, fluoroscopy, portable radiographic procedures, C-arm procedures, and OR imaging services. The CT Technologist demonstrates proficiency at routine diagnostic CT Scanning procedures including but not limited to CT of head/brain, neck, thorax, spine, abdomen/pelvis extremities and biopsy/drainage procedures. Responsibilities also include: knowledge of processing of CT system, surgical/sterile procedure, studies with or without contrast media and cross sectional anatomy. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential for success in this position.Essential Functions<ul><li>Operates CT equipment and processing systems to produce high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring compliance with departmental protocols and standards.</li><li>Prepares and positions patients appropriately for CT procedures, using suitable positioning and immobilization techniques based on patient needs and comfort.</li><li>Ensures accurate patient identification, verifies physician orders, and screens patients for contraindications to the examination.</li><li>Performs point-of-care creatinine testing and calculates GFR when required for contrast studies. Documents results and adheres to contrast administration protocols.</li><li>Administers contrast media as ordered, following safety protocols. Monitors patients for adverse reactions and responds appropriately.</li><li>Explains procedures clearly to patients, addressing questions to alleviate fear and anxiety, and provides instructions during and after the exam.</li><li>Collaborates with radiologists and healthcare team members to ensure accurate, timely, and patient-centered care.</li><li>Assists with interventional CT procedures such as biopsies or drain placements, including sterile field setup and patient support.</li><li>Reviews images for technical accuracy, presents completed studies to the radiologist, and communicates findings to relevant healthcare team members as needed.</li><li>Documents patient clinical history and correlates it with imaging studies to support accurate diagnostic interpretation.</li><li>Maintains and performs regular quality control checks on CT equipment, reporting any malfunctions promptly to ensure optimal functionality.</li><li>Responds to emergency situations, including contrast reactions or urgent imaging needs, in accordance with facility protocols.</li><li>Maintains a clean, organized, and fully stocked work area by monitoring supply levels and ensuring CT equipment is ready for use.</li><li>Adheres to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, and follows all infection control and radiation safety guidelines.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li><li>Complies with all policies and standards.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>1-2 years of clinical experience acquired through an accredited radiologic sciences program required</li><li>2-4 years of experience as a CT Technologist in an acute care hospital setting preferred</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities<ul><li>Proficiency in operating CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.</li><li>Ability to ensure patient safety and comfort while adhering to established protocols.</li><li>Skills in preparing and positioning patients accurately for CT scans, including using safety lifts and/or additional personnel for patient transfers.</li><li>Competence in maintaining CT equipment and ensuring its proper functioning.</li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with radiologists and healthcare team members.</li><li>Knowledge of aseptic, surgical, and radiologic techniques.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and deliver accurate results under minimal supervision.</li><li>Attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate documentation and image quality.</li></ul>Licenses and Certifications<ul><li>Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state required</li><li>CT - Computed Tomography certification or eligibility to obtain within six (6) months of hire required</li><li>BCLS - Basic Life Support within 90 days of hire required</li><li>(R) ARDMS or ARRT - Radiographer preferred</li></ul>
