Incumbent will maintain recreation facilities and brushing, logging, and construction trail tread system trails on the NZ of the Boise NF. Individual Placements may lead as a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) Crew Lead for 8 weeks. This placement will typically work either four 10-hour days per week Mondays through Thursday or five 8-hour days per week Monday through Friday if serving as a YCC Crew Lead. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties will include serving with FS employees constructing, cleaning, maintaining recreation facilities, taking water samples, and collecting fees. This requires hiking/ working outdoors with a partner and/ or independently. The placement time will be split with 50% of the job consisting of rental cabin maintenance and 50% campground maintenance.  Required Qualifications: <ul><li style="line-height:normal">U.S. Citizen or lawful, permanent resident </li><li style="line-height:normal">Must pass a background/driver check </li><li style="line-height:normal">Driver's license </li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">High school diploma/ GED </li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Willingness to work as part of a small team</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Good written and verbal communication skills </li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Being a positive role model for 15-18 year old youth</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">A positive attitude</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Current driver's license</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Ability to lift and carry 50lbs</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Ability to work outdoors in remote settings and inclement weather on uneven ground</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Ability to hike 5-10 miles in a day in rugged country</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Willingness to clean campground facilities </li></ul> Desired Qualifications: <ul><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Attention to detail. </li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Physically fit for long days of hard work.</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Experience with hand tools and basic carpentry.</li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">Coursework in recreation management, forestry, natural resources or related field </li><li style="color:black;line-height:normal">A strong interest in resource management and working with youth.</li></ul>Duty/Housing Location: Duties are performed out of the Idaho City, Lowman, Mountain Home, Cascade and Emmett Ranger Districts in, Idaho. All Idaho City, Lowman, and Mountain Home are full-service small towns in western Idaho. Housing should be available in a bunkhouse with a common kitchen and shared bedrooms. The candidate may provide their own housing, camp, or use this free forest service housing. Laundry facilities are not available at the bunkhouse, but is within short distance from the housings, as are grocery stores. Terms of Employment: One Individual Placement will complete a term of service (length dependent on commitment of hours), starting May/June through September 2026. The member must complete a minimum of 480 service hours by the end of their term.  Program Benefits: $7680 living allowance dispersed on a monthly basis throughout the 12 weeks.
