The Sterilization Technician III focuses heavily on steam sterilizers, vaporized peroxide sterilizers, gluteraldehyde sterilizers, washer decontaminators, cart washers, internal steam generators, stand alone steam generators, ultrasonic cleaners, perioperative scope sterilizers, and all supporting equipment. Ability to verbally explain the difference between gravity, pre-vacuum, and liquid sterilization cycles; what a biological indicator is and how it is used; what a sterilization integrator is and how it is used; and the instrument flow of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD).
