Specifically, the Coordinator of Religious Education is responsible for: developing and presenting Christ-centered, Scripture-based religious instruction to the children of the parish (70+/- children/year); preparing the children and youth for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist (20+/- children/year), and Confirmation (20+/- youth/year); developing and presenting an OCIA program to persons (3-5 persons/year) desiring to be baptized that will not only introduce them to the person of Jesus as he has been revealed in the Scriptures and the Catholic tradition, but will also help them be incorporated into the Church, which is his Body; developing and leading a modest program of adult education; assisting the pastor in preparing couples for marriage (6+/- couples/year) and for the baptism of their children (15+/- children/year); developing and leading a 5-day Summer Vacation Bible School program for parish children; keeping the parish Sacramental Records, and preparing certificates and other records showing reception of Sacraments; recruiting, training, and supervising catechists to assist with the religious instruction of children and youth; preparing and administering an annual budget for the parish Religious Education program. The Coordinator of Religious Education will share responsibility with parish leadership for proclaiming the Gospel and helping parishioners to encounter the living Jesus.
