DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Assistant Director of Human Resources is the administrative management level class, which oversees all functions and operations of the Human Resources and Risk Management Department and is responsible for the activities of recruitment, selection, employee and labor relations, classification, compensation, training, grievance and disciplinary process, employee recognition, Workers' Compensation, emergency management, and wildlife management. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of five years of increasingly responsible experience in human resource administration, labor relations, benefit administration and risk management, including at least two years at a management or supervisor level, and a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, public administration or closely related field.
