DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:<ul><li>Under the direction of the director, the Life Safety Specialist ensures the design, construction, repair and maintenance of all fire, intrusion and life safety systems (systems) meet requirements.</li></ul>SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Director of FacilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:<ul><li>Responsible for managing the Fire and Life Safety Program.</li><li>Supervising field inspections.</li><li>Planning, organizing and coordinating the total Fire and Life Safety Program, including training and developing policy and regulations.</li></ul>The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE <ul><li>High school graduate or GED equivalent.</li><li>Minimum of one year of experience inspecting property protection systems.</li><li>Basic computer skills; Knowledge of construction and electrical work.</li><li>Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with individuals from different backgrounds and educational levels. About The Role The UUPS Construction Manager leads field execution for complex distribution and transmission electrical and utility projects across an assigned territory. This opportunity is well suited for a hands-on construction leader who excels in fast-paced environments, builds trusted relationships with customers and contractors, and is committed to safe, high-quality project delivery. Onsite in Lake Charles, LA. Key Responsibilities <ul><li>Lead complex substation and transmission projects, including greenfield and brownfield work, from field execution through closeout. </li><li>Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with customer, environmental, and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Oversee daily construction and maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality execution. </li><li>Interpret contract requirements and apply them effectively in the field. </li><li>Identify project issues early and communicate risks related to safety, schedule, design, materials, budget, and commissioning. </li><li>Review drawings and construction documents for constructability, scope alignment, and schedule readiness. </li><li>Track material needs, resolve shortages, and coordinate deliveries to support uninterrupted field operations. </li><li>Participate in project meetings and provide field leadership to keep teams aligned on priorities and progress. </li><li>Provide clear field updates on safety, schedule, project status, and emerging risks. </li><li>Coordinate on-site contractor activities to maintain productivity, quality, and schedule performance. </li><li>Support commissioning planning and execution as needed to ensure successful project startup. </li><li>Complete contractor evaluations, project reconciliation, and closeout activities with accuracy and attention to detail. </li><li>Build strong customer relationships and serve as a professional field representative throughout the project lifecycle. </li><li>Provide field support during critical construction phases, including occasional extended hours when required. </li><li>Anticipate project risks and recommend practical solutions to support successful execution. </li></ul>Key Qualifications<ul><li>High school diploma or GED required, along with 10-15 years of experience in substation electrical or utility construction, including at least 2 years leading construction crews. </li><li>Understanding of data centers and utility supply-and-demand trends. </li><li>Knowledge of applicable safety codes, regulations, and construction standards. </li><li>Experience working on EPC projects. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of construction means, methods, and field procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of power systems and energy delivery infrastructure. </li><li>Comfortable using technology and job-related digital tools. </li><li>Ability to support emergency restoration efforts when needed. </li><li>Ability to work at remote job sites and navigate uneven terrain and rights-of-way. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to solve complex construction issues and support incident investigations. </li><li>Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. </li><li>Experience working with Entergy projects. </li></ul> Key Info Construction Managers typically work on construction sites and may be required to travel between project locations. The role may involve both office and fieldwork, with the need to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
